Dakota Values: December The Dakota Value for December is FAITH / BELIEF - WÓWICADA.

Thank you to Mr & Mrs Bergen and the Hands to Heart toy program. They came from Kansas City and are delivering toys to reservation communities. Our PreK-12 students were very excited and appreciative. ❤️💚🎄

Winter Recess Policy Reminder! Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for recess as temperatures drop. We will go outside for recess as long as the temperature (including wind chill) is above 10°F. Essential Gear: Please make sure your child has a coat, hat, gloves, snow pants, and weather appropriate shoes for recess each day to stay warm and comfortable outside. Thank you for helping us keep students safe and prepared this winter!

Each month at Isanti Community School, students have learned about a core value and how they can live that value in their everyday lives.

This month, students are learning about Wowicada - Faith/Belief.

Reinforcing WÓWICADA (Faith/Belief) at Home
1. Focus on Self-Belief (Unique Strengths & Powerful Spirit)
Acknowledge Strengths: Regularly point out specific things your child does well. Use phrases like, "I saw how hard you worked on that drawing—your focus is a unique strength!" or "You showed great kindness when you shared your toy. That comes from your powerful spirit."

Encourage Challenges: When your child is faced with a difficult task, remind them, "Remember how you figured out that puzzle last week? I have faith (Wówicada) that you can find a way to do this, too."

Dakota Values: December The Dakota Value for December is FAITH / BELIEF - WÓWICADA. The text lists five statements representing Wówicada: I believe in myself and my unique strengths. I trust the guidance of my Elders and teachers to show me the right way. I hold strong in my heart, knowing that my spirit is powerful. I honor the lessons and traditions of those who came before me. Mrs Garlejo's Science class had a fun time making ice cream today 🍨❄️ Did you know, making homemade ice cream is actually an endothermic process! The ice cream mixture absorbs heat from its surroundings in order to freeze. By placing it in ice mixed with salt, the salt lowers the freezing point of the water, creating a super cold environment that pulls heat out of the cream mixture — and voilà, delicious ice cream! 🍦✨

Thank you to the Isanti Elderly Nutrition Program for welcoming our senior class and giving them the opportunity to complete community service hours in such a meaningful way. Our students truly enjoyed serving Thanksgiving dinner and spending time with the elders.
