Dear Parents and Guardians of Isanti Community School,
At Isanti Community School, we are constantly looking for ways to improve the educational experience for our students and the working environment for our dedicated staff. Recently, the School Board and Administrative team have begun discussing a significant potential shift: moving to a 4-day school week.
Before any final decisions are made, we want to hear from you. Your perspective as a parent is essential to this process.
Why are we considering this change?
Our goal is to create a more sustainable, high-achieving environment. Data from the first quarter of this school year showed that during our 4-day weeks, student attendance was significantly higher than in previous years.
Beyond attendance, a 4-day schedule offers several key benefits:
Reduced Stress & Burnout: More time for students and staff to recharge, leading to better focus during school hours.
Recruitment & Retention: Strengthening our ability to attract and keep high-quality teachers in a competitive landscape.
Consistency: Reducing the daily reliance on substitute teachers.
Professional Growth: Allowing more dedicated time for teacher training and professional development.
Family Flexibility: Providing a designated day for family trips and medical appointments without students missing vital classroom instruction.
Addressing the Challenges
We recognize that a shift like this is a major change for our families. While the benefits are clear, we acknowledge that a 4-day week may present some challenges. However, we are committed to learning about these potential hurdles through this survey so that we can plan effectively and support our families through any transition.
